School Uniform
A common uniform helps to develop a strong sense of community,
A common uniform frees parents from the pressure of complying with demands for clothes in the latest designer fashions. These are often expensive as well as inappropriate for school use.
A common uniform looks smart and encourages loyalty and self-discipline.
A common uniform instils into your child a way of thinking which influences their work and behaviour in school.
Our school uniform is as follows:
Charcoal grey/ black long trousers
Charcoal grey/ black school short trousers
Red checked summer dress
White shirt or blouse or white/red polo shirt with or without school name
Red V or round neck sweatshirt/jumper/cardigan with or without school name
Red/black/grey tights
Black shoes
Plain grey/black/white socks
School uniform with the school name printed on can be purchased from Uniform Plus at the Scott Arms, Great Barr. Many of the other items can be purchased from the big department stores and supermarkets.
For health and safety reasons only stud earrings are suitable for school.
Appropriate watches may also be worn in school. Smart watches are not permitted.
Book bags can be purchased from the school office.
Any other school bag should be small enough to go into the school cupboards. Please do not send your child with large backpacks as these are unnecessary and we have nowhere to store them.
PE KIT
School made the decision that pupils should arrive at school wearing their PE Kit. This should comprise:
Trainers suitable for outdoor games
Plain black shorts or jogging bottoms
A plain white t-shirt or polo shirt
Their red school sweat shirt or red school zip up fleece
For swimming (Y6) your child will need:
Swimming costume (not bikini)/trunks (not swim shorts)
Swimming hat
Towel
Children may wear dark / plain tracksuit bottoms with their usual red sweat top or cardigan on their swimming day.
ALL CHILDREN
For safety reasons no jewellery or watches are to be worn for any PE activity.
So that no PE lessons are missed we suggest that ears are pierced during the summer holiday. Ear piercings that cannot be removed should be covered with tape before attending school.
Cultural or religious jewellery that cannot be removed must be safely covered and secured for all PE lessons. An elasticated, cotton sports sweat band can be useful for covering and securing wrist bracelets or bangles.
Children must not wear hooded tops for PE.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING ARE CLEARLY LABELLED WITH THE CHILDS NAME.
Purchasing used uniform
Used uniform is available via the school office. Parents should enquire with office staff as to what is available. Items and sizes vary as this stock is made up of donations from families. All enquiries are treated sensitively.
Should parents have items they wish to donate they should pass them on to the school office.
